Music Mondays: We Go Where No One Goes, Jonsi
We go where no one goes/we slow for no one...
Found this song courtesy my three-year-old who is a big HTTYD fan. I love how this song incorporates the theme music, but mostly I'm frustrated that I will not (this side of eternity; I can always hope) get to listen to this song whilst actually flying, with or without a dragon.

Music Mondays: White Lies, There Goes Our Love Again
Been on heavy rotation lately as we've been driving all over creation. Highly recommended road trip music.

Music Mondays: Toumast, Tallyatidagh
I've had this album for a few years, but suddenly this week I found myself bowled over by this song. On repeat.

Music Mondays: Editors, The Sting
So, Editors. Easily makes my top ten bands list, which I should probably blog sometime! If you love slaughteringly good vocals and ominous moods with a side of excellent poetry, do yourself a solid and listen, listen, listen to this band. Anyways, it's really nice when a band you love releases an album and you are on the ball enough to catch it at the time of release, but I'm totally not on the ball with these things anymore. So I get the next best thing, which is finding out about a new release way way later?
If you listen to this song and like it (i.e. you are sane), here's another of my favourites, Bricks and Mortar.

Music Mondays: MC Jin, Chinese New Year
Chinese Christian rap. I have more of it waiting in the wings.

Music Mondays: XO, Beyoncé
Well, this has sort of turned my world upside-down. I don't think I've ever liked a Beyoncé song before, but I reallllllllllllly like this song. It is also probably, like, super-old news to everybody who actually follows pop music.

Music Monday: Song for Zula, Phosphorescent
Haunting and beautiful. When I first heard this song I was totally unmoved by it and then one day BAM! it shot up the ranks of songs I love. You know when that happens? That happened to me with Bound Stems. I must've had My Kingdom For A Trundlebed for a solid year before I realised it was incredible and I needed to check out the rest of this band's work.

Music Mondays: Shapeshifters, Sam Roberts Band
Man, if you haven't listened to Lo-Fantasy yet, you get a chump award. Go listen to it now. Also, those dancers, wow.

Music Mondays: Cajun Rabbit-hole
I went down a YouTube Cajun rabbit-hole the other night and this is what I surfaced with.

Music Mondays: Hit The Road Jack, Ray Charles
Just somethin' me and Scout Kid were jamming to this morning. Nothing like a toddler singing "No more, no more, no more," to himself.

Music Mondays: Banana Pancakes, Jack Johnson
I don't know if anybody else is still listening to Jack Johnson, but it's great weekend music. Or if it's not the weekend, it's great afternoon-snack-with-a-two-year-old music. We were eating Ants on a Log so a song with bananas seemed appropriate.

Music Mondays: Until the Night Is Over, Timber Timbre
Timber Timbre is my favourite music for listening to at home alone of an evening. Beautifully creepy.
"I ain't no doctor, babe; I ain't no doctor's son, but I'll cool your fever 'til the doctor comes."

Music Mondays: MLK, U2
Sunday night was the first thunderstorm of the spring, coming just at dusk and washing over the fields that look just like a lake right now. Partner In Crime, Scout Kid, and I sat in the dark watching the lightning roll in slow and I sang this to Scout Kid as a lullaby.

Music Mondays: Cuban Pete, Louis Armstrong
I only knew the version of this from The Mask, and it's a regular dance number in the Parsonage kitchen. Scout Kid recently requested it and that's when I discovered this not-totally-weird version of it.

Music Mondays: Hurricane Lamps, Foxwheat
Last night I went to see my best friend Jenna performing for her project Foxwheat. I've known her for years but never clued in what an incredible voice she has. One of my favourite songs of the night was Hurricane Lamps, included here for your listening pleasure.
